Industry:    12 months ago

Marketing technology company Wondrlab has made its first global acquisition with the purchase of Polish digital agency WebTalk through a mix of cash and equity, CEO Saurabh Varma told ET.

Founded in 2010, WebTalk is a B2C digital marketing agency in the Central and Eastern European (CEE) region. It has a team of 100 specialists catering to more than 40 clients in Poland, CEE, and Central Asia.

Varma said WebTalk would receive a stake in Wondrlab, and the cash payout would be based on financial performance. He did not disclose the financial details of the deal.

“The Wondrlab equity that we have issued to WebTalk is at a valuation of Rs 500 crore. This is our biggest acquisition to date,” Varma said.

Webtalk’s Founder and Managing Director, Michal Dunin, stated that the company’s acquisition by Wondrlab will benefit clients in the CEE region by providing access to Wondrlab platforms such as Wisr, Hector, and Cymetrix.

This is the fifth acquisition by Wondrlab in three years. Earlier, it acquired stakes in Cymetrix, a Salesforce consulting and data analytics company with operations in the US and India; influencer marketing platform Opportune; performance marketing agency Neon; and creative agency What’s Your Problem (WYP).

Started in 2020, Wondrlab, a platform-first martech startup, has raised $7 million till date. It plans to continue its acquisition-led growth strategy and raise additional funds. “We will raise a new round to fuel the next round of acquisitions. We don’t intend to dilute more than 20% of the stake,” Varma said.

Varma said the company plans to make 26 acquisitions in three phases, out of which it has made five so far.

The company is backed by Pi Ventures LLP, Tanas Capital, Prodapt Holdings, and independent investors like Priyamvada Balaji from Lucas Indian Service and Gopal Srinivasan from TVS Capital.

The company expects to achieve Rs 200 crore in revenue this financial year.

Wondrlab has launched its European hub, providing clients with access to services in digital video, content, media & data, and digital business transformation, paving the way for expansion into other hubs.

The company has appointed Jarek Ziebinski as the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of its European Hub in Poland.

Ziebinski, a global advertising expert with over three decades of experience, has held key roles at Leo Burnett, Publicis One, and Publicis Groupe.
